Further Throttle cable to governer wheel assistance please

Recommended Posts

Afternoon,

In process of redoing my 856 throttle to governer as the previous owner bipassed the governer.. some of you on here have been most helpful as to show and tell me where to hook the throttle cable to the governer  wheel arm that protrudes and to tighten the throttle clamp bolt behind the governer bushing to also assist in adjusting rpm..

my current situation.. I had to cut off the end of throttle cable because for the life of me I could not remove it from the carb linkage hole even with lubricants.. I’m afraid I bent the cable and pulled out more of the center wire in the process.. I can’t figure out how to get the cable right length to be able to attach it to the governer wheel arm protrude- finger pointing  to-  while being able to bolt it to the governer bushing bolt area..

can I cut the cable under the black rubber outer sheath to proper length to pull tension .. then pull out center wire .. create Z bend then attach to arm?
should I just buy a new throttle cable?
Should be one or the last steps in order for my 856.. “The Motorvator” to start run and drive again.

If you need the center wire to be longer. You can pull the wire out of the sheathing, cut some of the sheathing off (grinding cut off wheel works best for this), slide the wire back in and make your new Z bend.

Overall throttle cable is now currently too long to be bolted to regulator bushing bolt on 856… to now have Z bend connect to governor wheel protruding arm.. so I can just cut the whole cable in half to make the desired length for proper tension?

Looks like you have plenty of cable to get the job done.

Here is a couple pics that might help top pic is an 856 and is pretty much the way it came new and bottom pic is a 701 that I made a bracket to bolt cable to because I just couldn’t get it where I wanted it on arm because of exhaust. Both work great, in my experience its better to leave cable long and not have any sharp bends in it so they will slid in and out easier. Remember u can keep cutting shorter but you cant add it back on:D.
