New Wheel Horse owner here!

Hello all, Nice to be here, I am here because I recently had a 1965 Wheel Horse GIFTED to me, she runs and rides but has none of the original attachments with it. I am also unsure of the exact model(and possibly year) but am told it is a 65. I have some pics I will post of it if anyone wants to help with ID'ing it! My plans aren't concrete yet but I would like to make either a mowverlander out of it, or maybe some sort of mower hot rod type thing, either way its a blessing and something my kids and I can do together.

Based off of the hydraulic lift lever, the steering wheel, it being a long frame, I think that might be around a 68 charger 12. Does it have a model number and serial number tag under the dash somewhere? And to Red Square and to owning Wheel Horses. I will warn you though that they are a herd animal and tend to multiply rather quickly.

No, I looked everywhere I read there should be a tag, only one I can find is on the engine blower shroud, and has been painted over and then sanded when someone tried to read what it says. From what I could find with it, It appears I have the Kohler 241 10hp engine. Any and all markings, tags and stickers have long since been removed or fell off though. Yeah, I understand multiplying, all my projects tend to do that, but I have 7 kids so there will be plenty to share, but knowing them they will fight over each project before moving on to fight over another one. Model 1075

10 = hp

7 = hydro transmission

5 = 1965

This is the only tag I can find, it's on the blower shroud.

Someone on here may be able to narrow down the year from using the engine spec number, should work as long as engine wasn't replaced unknowingly

Kohler made the engine in 1966 and spec # 46333d was used on the model 1067.

10 = engine hp

6 = 6-speed transmission

7 = 1967

It may have been swapped out then, I only say this because everything for the 1067 says its a 3 or 6pd where mine is definitely hydrostatic, perhaps a 1077 then? or maybe indeed its a 65 and had the engine replaced? Not completely sure really. I will say that dash looks pretty close, except there is a hole, where I assume the light would have been, at the top left of the panel, and a cigarette lighter next to that, and no rocker switch anywhere. just choke, throttle, the lighter I mentioned and the hole next to it, and the ignition.

I don't think it is a '65 because to my knowledge all the tractors in '65 were a short frame and yours appears to be a long frame so it was made it '66 or later I believe, I may be wrong though

It likely is a 1077. Toro has no record of this model so no listed engine. It make sense that the gear and hydro models used the same engine.

I will say, when I search for images of a 67 or so 1077, they all look remarkably the same as mine with only minor differences here or there, where as when I looked up other years and models, there were a lot of what seems to be major differences.

Definitely not a 65 but most likely a 66 or 67 hydro. Tag under dash most likely painted over. Do not try and sand it off like the motor plate.

I wouldn't have done that anyways, whoever did the sanding was a previous owner, according to my friend that gifted it, he is only the 3rd owner since new. I also believe the ID tag is completely gone, as there is nothing painted over at all there, just a couple holes where I can tell something used to be riveted in place but now isn't. Also thanks for the welcome! Happy to be here! Especially after just today finding out about something called "Mowverlanding"!!!! It is so very awesome, and probably a bit more affordable than normal overlanding!

It happens. Steering wheel is a dead giveaway for 66/67.

The engine on the 1965 and 1966 would have been a 241AS and the engine on your Wheel Horse is a 241S and the PTO is 1967 or later while the seat is a 1965 to 1967 unit so I'm going to say it is a 1967 model 1077.

Yep, sad that Wheel Horse followed the flock and changed to the current PTO system with the save an idiot safety switches.

Your tractor is a 1967, Model 1077.

 

1967 was the first year for the parking brake lever on the center counsel and the last year to use foot stirrups instead of running boards.

That's good to know! Nothing against 65 but I like the year 67 better!
