jsp_333 286 #1 Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I have an extra rebuilt starter motor for a 414-8. Magnum 14. My question is can I install it on my 418-8. Magnum 18. Has anybody made that kind of swap on similar tractors? I'd prefer to use OEM if I can. I'll take the word of a forum member over what AI says is possible. The engine is making horrible noises when I turn it over so am unsure if it can be rebuilt although that's certainly an option - If the failing starter has all it's teeth that is. Yes I've done all the electrical checks. I have 12 volts going to the starter. Edited 1 hour ago by jsp_333
Easton Rich 1,069 #2 Posted 1 hour ago They should be the same, but I would check the pinion gear to make sure they match.
pfrederi 20,037 #3 Posted 1 hour ago Magnum 14 all specs use same starter. 4109804 M-18 depending on spec number 3 different part numbers Most common is 5209803 (the other 2 are 52098 04 and 06) Don't think you can swap it.
jsp_333 286 #4 Posted 1 hour ago Thx. I'll double check the spec number if I can find it. Otherwise just rebuild and wait for it to come back from the shop. I Won't be cutting grass anytime soon so I've got time.
