MShepheard 1 #1 Posted 18 hours ago Is it possible to replace the oil seal without removing the bearing plate. I have seen a method of removing the old seal with a self tapping screw threaded into a small drill hole and then it just being pulled out. Achto 31,215 #2 Posted 14 hours ago (edited) I have drilled a couple small holes in the side of the seal, screwed some screws into them, then used 2 vise grips to pull an old seal out. This only works if the outside of the seal has enough meat on it. Easy home made tool for installing them is a piece of PVC pipe that is the same outside diameter as the seal.
