Does anyone know why my c145 runs full throttle but dies out a little under halfway

Sounds like your carburetor has some dirt or debris in it. I would remove it, soak it in gas and disassemble to inspect and properly clean it.

It has a pretty new carb but it could be dirt

or  a Chinesium carb...some of them do not work well..

Clean it to start with also see if your fuel pump is pumping....

I read somewhere that there was a certain carb that worked really well

can be debris in tank -- although hopefully your fuel filter catches that -- also if you have not changed fuel hose in awhile you may wish to do so because small fragments that deteriorate from inside fuel line might clog a carb?

You might try running without a filter see if it runs better I doubt you have much dust right now

I bet it's your new carburetor. They are a 50/50 whether they work or not. @76c12091520h might have a rebuilt one you could purchase

Is there any chance it could be my spark plug

Whenever a new problem comes up you should consider the last thing you changed and be sure it was done correctly.

This is a symptom of poor fuel to air ratio. is the new carburetor mounted tightly with a new gasket? Have you adjusted the high speed and low speed screws as suggested by the supplier?

Yes. I can get to start in idle by engaging and disengaging the choke so I know the fuel mixture is lean. Could it be the float?

You'll want to adjust it to richen your air fuel mix. The top needle on your carb is what does this

Just a thought, do you have the old carb?

I have had some Chinese carbs that would run full throttle, and idle like crap, others idled good and wouldn't run full throttle

Yes, break it down. There are some good threads on here you could do step by step to rebuild it, or there are some good youtube videos on it I'm sure
