New ignition switch frustration

Recommended Posts

Put a new Indak Switch on my new C160-8 project tractor worked OK for several starts now it isn't passing full voltage.  I get battery voltage 12.55 at the B terminal, but when you activate the switch I am only get 5-6 volts at the I and S terminal.  Checked resistance between B term and I and S it less than 1 ohm.

Am I missing something or is this new switch faulty.....

So I go to my spare parts bin I have 3 good Mag switches no Battery ignition switches:angry-cussingblack:

1 ohm shouldn't cause that big of a voltage drop. Maybe the spade terminal is widened out not makin good contact or some of the wires broken in the crimp at the terminal.

Run a wire to the solenoid from the switch and see what happens.

Check all the individual terminals for looseness at the copper rivet joint. If any are loose, it requires disassembling the switch to fix.

I recently did one and one terminal was loose. Addressed that, it is now soild. Took pictures, it is not back together yet. Soon....

Got it to work. What irritated me was I got a new plug and pigtail for the wiring Harness and brand-new switch and after a few starts it fails.  Took it out sprayed Electro clean in it and worked the switch for a few minutes and it finally worked.  Wonder how long it will last before it dies again.
