@Darb1964  think  if i were  getting a stand by gen today  would definitely  get the LPG  bigger unit option ,  also relatively easy to get a  transfer switch hook up installed , outside the house .  did that  many years ago ,  pete

UGH, tension spring for the 520-HC drive belt idler broke this morning on round one of snow clearing. Fun stuff to go back out there and repair it in the middle of the driveway under these wonderful conditions. 

It could always be worse!

Just got warmed up so heading out to tackle it.

  Ariens blower first and a clean up after with the 520-8…no problems. 
  Maybe 12” and it wasn’t wet/heavy like I was expecting.

Well it was a little worse. LOL

The drive belt was frayed and noticed the inside loop edges would touch each other when that idler was pushed down. Got the belt changed but still need to do the idler spring. Came back in to warm up a little. And I couldn't tell where that spring connected on the arm.

Nearly zero snow here. Quite windy. We've been remaining on the far northern fringe of this storm.

You know it's cold when you have to warm up the little propane tank with a heat gun in order to get a flame out of it!

Used the torch to heat and re-shape that broken idler spring. Drive belt and tractor is back in business for now, although it will need some permanent attention when it warms up.

My sister in Bridgewater Massachusetts is without power, high winds and lots of snow. She said she can't see out of any of her windows. I have about 6 inches in the Berkshires of Massachusetts with little wind and light snow. Hopefully we don't get much more in the Berkshires we have enough for past storms. 

Darb you must have a big tractor with a bucket if I remember right.
