Joker72 95 #1 Posted February 21 (edited) What's the correct way to remove these four bolts? Engine turns. Edited February 21 by Joker72
midpack 1,117 #2 Posted February 21 If you don't have a power gun you could put a spare wrench on one of the other bolt heads with the wrench body (on a loose bolt) against the shaft to loosen the last one. Or smack the end of the wrench that's not on the bolt if you can't get it loose with a quick turn
Easton Rich 1,098 #3 Posted February 21 If I don't have an impact, I just put a ratchet with the correct size socket on it and give it a bit of a pop or smack and they come loose.
wallfish 19,551 #4 Posted February 21 YUP, impact driver is the easiest. Sharp impact to a wrench is second But if it's a gear jammer tractor just leave it in 3rd gear with the clutch pedal out and that should stop the crank from spinning. Plus you can even hold the brake pedal since you're right there too.

ri702bill 11,629 #6 Posted February 22 I prefer to use a ratchet by hand to "feel" if the bolts are rusted in and about to snap... The impact works but skips the first part!
peter lena 9,819 #7 Posted February 22 @Joker72 like a 6 point socket , and a small diameter round drift punch in on one of the clutch face holes , rasily stopping rotation on block castings , would also be a great opportunity to ENHANCE related needle bearing , usually dry / almost chalky , indicates , LUBRICATION FAILURE , have none of that with lucas green chassis grease , 550 deg flash point , my pto is still spinning with engine off , pete
