tgranthamfd 29 #4 Posted October 1, 2009 Looks like a 62, 63, or 64. What size / type of engine is on it?
Kelly 1,033 #5 Posted October 1, 2009 If it's orig. I'd say a 63 because of the steering wheel, gastank and the front axle, that was the only year they used all those styles together. unless I'm not seeing the axle very well, but it looks like the newer style. I also think the shifter is correct for 63 and newer tractors, but that's a guess
Kelly 1,033 #6 Posted October 1, 2009 OH ya unless it's rusty under that blue paint it looks very restorable, looks mostly from what I can see complete, and the hood looks to be in at least fair shape. I've gave $100 for worse
Kelly 1,033 #7 Posted October 1, 2009 I studied the picture better, and with the batt. (if the tray is factory) and the kohler belt guard, it's a 633 or 753 that is if the parts I see are orig. and I'm still learning so it's a guess.

chazm 413 #9 Posted October 1, 2009 Thanks guys - its listed on ebay. has more pics there I put an offer in waiting to see what happens It's missing generator & reg , and most of the tin ware for the eng. They didn't say what motor it was, but looked like a kohler me. Also has a snow plow with it. To stay out of the Dog house, I told the wife I would restore it for her yea, right Will see what happens Chaz :ychain:
Duff 206 #10 Posted October 1, 2009 I told the wife I would restore it for her yea, right Yuppers, I hear you there! More and more I realize how lucky I am...if my wife starts to gripe, I simply point out to her how much we pay in boarding fees for her horse (four-legged type), vet, farrier, and such, and then I go merrily on my Wheel Horse way! chazm 413 #12 Posted October 2, 2009 Well I guess the guy didn't like my bid <_< He re-listed it for $200, so I 'll have to think it over Being I got laid -off last month after 24 yrs with a trucking company <_< Dollars are getting tight . So like they say.. I'll sleep on it & see if it's still there this weekend. Does look like a good re-store canidate & winter project. Maybe if I'm nice to the wife, she'll avance me my allowance this month Or better yet, since I told her I would re-store it for her, let her kick in the other $100. Well I guess we'll see how the horse tumbles . Chaz :ychain:
linen beige 15 #13 Posted October 2, 2009 I also think the shifter is correct for 63 and newer tractors, but that's a guess That "bent" shifter was brought out in mid "62 when the HY-2 was introduced. I do agree that it looks like a '63. I gotta ask... Why so blue? :scratchead:
chazm 413 #14 Posted October 3, 2009 Well won the blue horse & going to pick up tomorrow Will post pics as soon asa I can. Chaz :scratchead:

Get this ... he is a JD guy & had it for a while, was going to re-store it but. had too many deers... lucky me He was told it was a 702, but wasn't sure... or how it got blue Will take more pics tomorrow so you guys can help me get a possitive ID. Chaz :ychain:
Kelly 1,033 #19 Posted October 5, 2009 Glad you got it for a good price, I'm sticking to a 633 or 753 as for the model.
linen beige 15 #20 Posted October 5, 2009 Glad you got it for a good price, I'm sticking to a 633 or 753 as for the model. Ditto on all points. It isn't a 702. The front of the 702 frame was flat, the 702 had just one tie rod, etc.
chazm 413 #21 Posted October 5, 2009 Hi all - can you tell what model it is by the serial # ?? It is 62-23191 Looking to pin-point what model it is - 633 or 753 thanks ,Chaz :hide:
Kelly 1,033 #22 Posted October 5, 2009 For the most part the serial no. don't mean anything, and I do belive the only diff between the 633 and the 753 was that one is 6hp and the other 7hp. both kohlers, now if the engine is orig. that would tell you. Kelly 1,033 #23 Posted October 5, 2009 Duh,I had a brain fart, carfully scrape the paint off the decal on the belt guard, if it's the orig. guard it will have the no.s on it as to the model.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,451 #24 Posted October 5, 2009 A run of seven 753 serial numbers 62-22113 thru 62-23884 includes your 62-23191. Garry
chazm 413 #25 Posted October 5, 2009 Thanks Gary & Kelly - thats what I'll go with Besides who ever painted her blue removed the decal on belt guard Also the the tinware is gone on the eng... so no ID on Kohler except the PO said it was a 7 hp. Well - next step is the tear down Thanks again all Chaz :scratchead:
