1987_WHEEHORSE312 82 #1 Posted February 19 (edited) Hey guys! So I was looking over my 36" side discharge deck and noticed that the stacked drive pulley was loose. It is a Double D style, and it seems the center bore is just a tad bigger on pulley. I have confirmed the spindle size is 5/8". I was talking to someone on Facebook and they speculated it may not even be the correct pulley on there and that someone did a garage hack just to sell it. There is no plate or stamp indicating any kind of model number on the deck even though the deck is in good shape. I was wondering if someone has a replacement I can buy or may know a part number for a website to a pulley I can buy. Here are photos of all the measurements you guys will need. You do have 3 spindle assemblies on this side discharge deck? Never listed for the 312-8 - rear discharge only. A 2-spindle 37" side discharge deck was recommended. At first I was put off that the metric was on “the bottom” but I’ve been warming up to it. I’m forcing myself to use metric whenever I can. As a consultant, years ago, I set up software for payroll and benefits systems. One agricultural client used a lunar cycle calendar for payroll, i.e. he paid workers on half- and full-moon days. I'm refurbishing two old 36" cutting decks which have the double D spindles as pictured in this thread above. Some of the single groove spindle cast iron pulleys (not the idler pulleys) are chipped, one pretty much beyond repair (a previous owner had mounted it upside down to stop the belt from coming off). Could someone tell me the correct part number for replacement pulley wheels please? Are they readily available (I'm in the UK) or will I be reduced to buying some cast iron pulleys (with a 15mm hole and a key slot) and hand filing them out to double D? (Not a task I relish). So far I've machined out the spindle bearing housing to 1 5/8" to accommodate standard bearings (two 3/4 x 1 5/8 x 7/16 bearings with a spacer in between) using the original spindles. Works well and is much cheaper when it comes to replacing the bearings Also, just an unrelated query. The belt covers on my decks are single piece with a hole for the stacked pulley to poke through whereas those pictured above are two separate covers with a gap in the centre. While this gap must make access to the belts easier, doesn't it allow debris under the covers and cause problems with the spindle drive belts? Thanks in advance for your help. Those in the list all seem to be idler pulleys without the DD shaft hole. I think I've found the right number though. ineedanother 1,971 #11 Posted 8 hours ago @BruceK, if this set is what you are looking for and worth the cost of shipping from NC, U.S. shoot me a PM. They aren't perfect but they are definitely serviceable. The casting on the single pulley shows 5877 and I think they came from an old 36" SD deck.
