smitty316 25 #1 Posted February 14 I have a 416-8 with bad rear tires. They're 23 X 9.5 - 12 turf tires. I came across some 23 X 10.5 - 12 tractor tires (V shaped tread), but on 4 lug rims. Would it work to have these tractor tires put on my original rims? I'm guessing that I would have to slide the hubs out a little. Would that be a problem if I did? Anyone done this before? Thanks, Smitty
8ntruck 8,700 #2 Posted February 14 That swap should work. Probably won't need to move the hubs, as the 1" section width difference will end up being an additional 1/2" or so per side.
ri702bill 11,617 #3 Posted February 14 I for one would not slide the hubs out for clearance if needed. Two options - different rims with less rear offset, or wheel spacers. The grub screw position over the axle key is somewhat critical... 1
Achto 31,415 #4 Posted February 14 Like stated above. Should be a direct swap with no alterations needed.

kpinnc 17,575 #6 Posted February 15 If I'm understanding your post I have one concern to point out. V bar or ag tires tend to be stiffer across the tread than turf tires. When you put 10.50 width tires on standard Wheel Horse 7.5 wide rims, the sidewalls do most of the flexing. Because of this, they can be dang near impossible to seat the bead. I created a whole new dialect in my garage attempting to do this, so I know what I'm talking about. So if you get them, do yourself a favor and put tubes in the tires. It will make mounting them much easier.

Remove them from their packages so as not to destroy the packages. Inflate them to 5 PSI in the loose state... come back to see IF they are still fully inflated. One or both may not be! Send the defective one(s) back for a refund, try another brand. Been there, done that.
