Tractor Stack On Charger 12

Hey, So ive had this badass idea ive wanted to do for awhile ive seen some other guys do, I want to put one of those tractor stack mufflers on my k301s. From asking around, I plan on buying the muffler from tsc, the one built for the farmall A or B. Do you guys have any info i should keep in mind? Specs? I dont think i need to be worried about backpressure, the tsc mufflers are pretty straight thru. Thanks! Ive included a picture of another tractor i found at my clubs show once for reference.

Another option you could go with is a Cub muffler, as it has a 1 inch end on it so you would just need a hose clamp instead of having to weld it on. One thing I have seen on here about stacks and am going to repeat is that you need to put a brace on the bottomed of it. @ri702bill has a good photo of the brace he has on his tractor

Specs?  Yell out loud.  In the store.  Now yell through the muffler.  What sends the chickens flying further?  

 

I popped this Cherry Bomb on in 2013 due to necessity, I needed a muffler and had this laying around.  Now it’s custom and cool.

I did similar on my 854 to what Kevin did on the 502. I used a 12" straight thru glasspack muffler.

A lower brace - to the engine - is strongly recommended.

Back pressure - the small engines rely on a small amount of it. I have a disc with holes in it sandwiched between the muffler outlet and the top pipe.

The length of the top pipe affects the sound... start long, trim to suit.

The 1 x 1 x 1/2 Run Tee with a modified 1/2" pipe plug makes for a simple lower mounting point.

Here is how I braced mine I attached it to the clamp on the bottom of the muffler. With another piece of bar coming from the other side of the frame and bolted to the bar on the muffler side. 

Like others have said if you are just getting a TSC muffler a Cub muffler works best I believe it's labeled as IH-1

I like the addition support mods. (I probably would have used 1/2 angle iron, a carry over from my industrial days!) I am getting away from that a little.

I had this one on a tractor before I knew any better. Just didn't like the looks. 

 

Now Jim Kemp's a different story. 

 

Only other one i would even consider is the Cub. Well maybe one of @Achtos homemade ones. Thems off the hook.

Used a TSC Cub muffler on Clyde, the C-195.  I've since added a brace.

One like these?? Complete with baffles. I tend to run mine a little tall, keeps the fumes out of me face.

  I'm  considering a 90 degree elbows on Clyde's stack to blow the exhaust out to the side.

I had Chad Burris (Phat Staks) make stacks for my 953, 753, & RJ. They are more scaled to size, especially the RJ, & thats the look I wanted. They arent very heavy so no additional bracing was needed. His prices are reasonable also.

I ran the IH Cub stack from TSC last summer. At first I thought it was awesome, then I got deployed and came home and so after months of not using it I forgot just how loud it was. So when I got home, after running the tractor through two snow storms doing three houses each time, the noise got to be a bit much for me. Guess im a bit of a wimp lol. If done right like a lot of these pictures make me wish I had, I bet I’d have liked it more.

Chad Burris makes a nice stack that isn't bulky and it's got a decent sound. I have them on my 8hp and the 16's
