It a little late but better than never as a reminder.

My younger brother went out the other night after the snow storm and was shoveling snow. Came in, sat on the couch and died. He was 60 and had some heart issues.

He should not even had a shovel in his hand! I find out later how bad his tinker was.

Do what the Dr. tells you and don't push it.

Lets learn from this bad and turn it into something on the positive side.

Butch is in Gods hands now.

So sorry Joe.

Listen to what your body is telling you. 11 yrs. ago I started getting acid reflux after eating out for my wife's birthday. I never get acid reflux so I let it pass. 3 days later I'm at work and start getting it again. Plus I'm really feeling crummy. I had gotten a flu shot the same day I started having issues. I thought I was coming down with the flu. I went home at noon. Had to pick up an item at a friends house. On the way back as I was stopping for an intersection, both of my hands fell off the steering wheel. I managed to drive the remaining half mile home. Told my wife what happened and she called my doctor. He says get to the hospital. One blood test showed a marker for a heart attack. I get shipped to the city for an angioplasty. I had the "Widow Maker LAD blockage and got 2 stents.

At work with other guys if I get tired I stop. If any of the young guys say anything I tell them they will most likely be in the same boat someday. I fix stuff with what I know. I tell them push that or turn that. My hero days are behind me.

I’m very sorry for your loss Joe.

I was at work on Tuesday when I got a call stating that one of our truck drivers, Mel would not be there. I was then shocked when told that he had a heart attack shoveling snow on Monday. Mel was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, I mean a genuinely nice person. He was 63 years old and in great physical condition. Mel was still playing ice and deck hockey at his age. He never smoked or drank. I was in a bulldozer when I got the call and had to shut it down and leave the job site. I had to get in my truck and go for a ride just to digest this horrible news. I’m still in shock this even happened. He was just talking to me about retiring and spending time with his grandkids. Poor guy worked hard his whole life only to be cut short at the end.

Thank You to Everyone.  I really found out at this week how blessed we are. From old co-workers, the local community, and the WH guys, just Aces.

Butch was a wheel horse guy, (imagine that), a 310-8 magnum (and others  :eusa-think:). He had a plow on it and did use it. When I went to his home place to start straightening up, the 310 was in the middle of the garage in a puddle of water, chains on the ground laying in front of it. Later, checking his cameras, I seen him pushing snow and spinning a lot. He got 2/3's of it done with the 310, and good enough. I figured he could not stand it and had to get the shovel out for finishing touches.

Like Mike said do what you can and back off when necessary. Good advice.

My condolences.  Way too young.  I had a nasty grandfather that almost made it to a hundred.  Your loss is painful.  The Lord scoops up the good.  Well documented

All my best to you and your loved ones.
