Snow blower for Charger 12

Recommended Posts

superduty5.4guy

Hi all, this is my first post. Last year I dug my dads old Charger 12 Automatic out of the shed and it hadnt run in 20 years. Well I got it running great and plowed the driveway all last year with it but out driveway is about 200 feet long and with our Northeast Ohio snow, the old plow had quite a difficult time. So I have decided to look for a snow blower but I have no idea what models will fit my tractor, so if you guys have any info, and possibly where I can find one it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. Tony. Also I found this on ebay and was wondering if it could be made to fit my tractor http://cgi.ebay.com/Toro-Wheelhorse-lawn-t...id=p3286.c0.m14

Or this? http://cgi.ebay.com/32-WHEEL-HORSE-SNOW-BL...id=p3286.c0.m14

superduty, go here and type in your model number X-XXXX hit enter on the next page you will see on the right "View Assembly drawings" click that and you will see on the right "View Attachments and Accessories" click that and you will see what model number will fit your Charger. Hope this helps.

:scratchead: , Tony.

The eBay auction you linked to is a snowthrower attachment for a Toro (before they bought Wheel Horse) 11-36 or 11-42 lawn tractor from the early 80's.

I won't say that you can't make it fit a Wheel Horse, but by the time you're done adapting it you'll wish you would have bought the correct unit.

Superduty,

Welcome. There are a lot of these that are out there and are largely interchangeable.

The biggest difference are units made for Vertical shaft engines versus your Horizontal shaft Charger.

My Charger 12 is a 1969. It did NOT have the front hitch (used for the mule drive with newer mowers and also to mount the "newer" style of blower).

If your has this, great. If not you will either need the older bolt-on style of blower. I decided to add the hitch.

Here is a picture of the hitch after I installed it:

Here is a hitch a fellow Red Square member made out of the common and cheap C-series Hitch:

Last winter in NE OH I used both the plow and the blower. Nice combination, particularly since I had them installed on separate tractors!

where in N.E. Ohio are you? i have a snow blower from an 81, (i think) c85 for sale. it will be in a garage sale this weekend. i also have a 753, and a commando 8 for sale for anyone interested. i'm not sure if the blower will work on the charger 12, but someone here might know. i had an implement cross reference at one time, but my computer ate it. :hide: id#96-42s101-11558 pm me if you are interested, thanks,
