8ntruck 8,467 #4 Posted 19 hours ago I had a leaking shut off valve on my 14-8 no name. I picked out the old O ring/paking, then took the valve stem to the hardware and found an O ring that would fit on the valve stem. I'm almost positive you can still get them shutoffs new if ya dont have any luck fixin it. peter lena 9,640 #7 Posted 10 hours ago @ri702bill many moons ago , when I worked , we always had charts to cross reference / materials at change over time . we regularly used a MATCHING LUBRICANT TO PREVENT O RING ROLLING ? that rolling would bind and thin out the physical size of the ring , making it leak , or crack . change overs , were a regular thing for us , using existing tank / piping / pumps ,related space to make a different food grade material . that food grade standard , was the game changer , every flange mount had to be certified with a chemical lab test , to verify its cleanliness , working with a instrument tech , shows you how to eliminate , issues . pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

An alternative I’ve used is (Ace) hardware: https://www.acehardware.com/departments/plumbing/faucet-and-faucet-repair/faucet-and-valve-packing/4200366 I had some left over from fixing outdoor water spigots. peter lena 9,640 #13 Posted 4 hours ago @Handy Don having replaced all of mine years ago , never had an issue with any of them , remember suggesting to use a silicone grease on installation for ease of installment , seating . cannot say its related , because of zero issues , but , have used , sta bil in all my fuels , with excellent results , especially referring to , no fuel hose debris at all , anyware , filter at tank and another close to carb , zero debris , when ever I have repetitive problem , love those ? look at it in every possible angle , and experiment till gone . my stand by generator , sits for months , starts right up , filters are clean / clear , carb bowl , clean / clear . as I have said , any questionable fuel , and related hose , should also be changed out , also suggest , to run a frame length 5/16 " steel brake line ? eliminate all that fuel hose break down , that upper inside frame corner , is a good spot, then clear fuel resistant hose to barb, years in , tank and carb , add 1 to 2 ounces of stabil , to all my tank top offs . no fuel issues at all . regular gas , pete 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
