C-125 drive belt problem

Recommended Posts

Hey all:

I have been having fun sprucing up my C-125 Auto, got the new seat pan stripped and painted (Thanks Duff), its looking happier by the day.

I took a break from working on it to mow the lawn and found a problem- It seems like the drive belt has stretched to the point that it is slipping on the tranny drive pulley and not spinning it fast enough for it to move beyond a crawl.

it seems like it is routed correctly, the tensioned (if that is what it is called) is engaged. I compared the new belt thats on there with the take off and the length is the same.

Short of experimenting with shorter belts is there any adjustments that can be made?

I notice that the engine mount bushings are some what worn- could that cause enough slack to cause this failure? Could the tranny be shifted forward? I started to notice the problem when I hit a pile of dirt with the mower deck a month or so ago, and thats what promped me to change belts in the first place.

Thanks

Hank, you're more than welcome!

Wish I could offer some tips, but I know nothing about the hydro drive trains. I'll be watching for replies and reading with interest....

First question, are you sure that the drive belt is slipping or is there something else going on? Does the belt seem to loose? Does the tensioner have more room to travel and is the spring okay?

Thanks for the responses:

The tensioner is all the way down, and the belt is very loose.

I say that the tensioner is all the way down- meaning the handle that comes up thru the control panel is in the down position- (the roll pin flush with the panel) is there an adjustment that can be made below there? There is spring tension, but I will see about he adjustment tonight.

I do not have a manual yet, and am new the the small engine world so if I am asking a foolish question forgive me.

Thanks

Hank
