Muke drive tensioner finally apart.

Recommended Posts

CD Long Jr

I worked in the oil patch & refineries my entire career. When I started trying to take it apart, that little guy inside said you're peein' in the wind. When I had Liquid Wrench comin' out the bottom of the nut and it wasn't turnin' I KNEW I was in trouble. Two 18inch pipe wrenches and a 4lb hammer later, it's apart. Threads in nut are flat. Useless, but it's apart. I listened to you guys and feel good!

That would be great, but I won't need it until I get a snowblower. I have a front blade. The deck is shot. I got her just for snow removal, but readin' a lot of post on here, they are one he?? of a tractor.

Pete, is there a Cold roll pin that holds the knob on? I need to get it out of the mule bracket without tearing anything else up.

Maybe I missed something, the mule drive goes with the mower deck and not needed for a snowblower. :confusion-confused:

@CD Long Jr best thing for that pin is a penetrant  soakage , and a size to size  solid  round punch , basically  , no bouncing  , will give that pin the solid impact , you need  to move it , been there done that ,  also on the snowblower and  mower deck , they are both driven by the same mule drive .  with a little , functional  detailing  , basically  bearing  lube change out , it works with  ease,  done a number of those , pete

Good point Lynn.   Those old junk mule drives do make great  front weight brackets, plow sway stabilizers, and reciever mounts.105_0139.JPG.3452f47732492c8dce4ffad74ee2836e.JPG

I haven't researched the snowblower yet. Is it direct drive from the PTO?

Yes, the blowers have thier own spring loaded belt tensioning pulleys.
