Recommended Posts

I checked the engine oil in the 312-8. It looks like it was just put in, BUT the dipstick is bent, Another problem?

Don't see where we determined the model number of the tractor or it's serial number. Post all the numbers you can find plus all the numbers off the engine including the serial number.

There was a change in the dipstick oil levels. Perhaps someone tried to change the level without replacing the stick.

Any part number on the stick?

Engine tin wasn't included. I don't have an engine serial number. 1988 312-8.

Some 300 series (1987 that I know of) had a low oil switch threaded into the oil pan at the rear. From the outside, looks like a drain plug with two wires on it.

Someone may have bent the tip to clear the float on that low oil float. Nothing else I can think of would interfere with the dipstick.

Hmmm... better to find a bent dipstick than half a dipstick....

All of my big block Kohlers  (Ks and Ms) with flat metal dipsticks have that bend on the end.  helps them make the turn into oil pan from the dip stick tube.
