groundhog47 388 #1 Posted 16 hours ago Liked hood on L-156 but didn't care care for ground clearance even though just a few inches. Started a "raising" project, and still working on it. Don't have a pic with new seat and later model fender that had to be slotted for shifter and so on. Used 655 front axels and some 1" 5 lug hubs with my old C-120 front and rear wheels. Still decicing on trans , maybe goin to 6 speed or bigger 4 speed if possible. My departed friend, SPECIALWHEELHORSE, Jimmy Rodgers gave me an engine, still awaiting install. 1st pic is as unloaded

If you mean you used 655 spindles on the original L156 front axle, you're gonna have awesome steering on that machine. The Rangers had much sharper turn radius than thier big brothers. I never really noticed it until I put different wheels up front. They turn very sharp! The axle is narrower than standard, but not by much.
ri702bill 10,711 #3 Posted 7 hours ago Any effort to save another Round Hood is worth it. Are the rear tires too large as to interfere with the cutting deck?? Looks like it's time to replace the brake shaft seal.... off to a great start there.
pfrederi 19,327 #4 Posted 3 hours ago (edited) We should have gotten together. I just modified a Commando 8 to make it lower like a Lawn Ranger What have you done to your Wheel Horse today? - Page 999 - Wheel Horse Tractors - RedSquare Wheel Horse Forum Edited 3 hours ago by pfrederi 1

The deck will never be reused by me, specialwheelhorse rebuilt it when we visited, he bought it, repainted and all, then willed it back when he went to wheelhorse heaven. The transmission seems to move elsewise ok, but that brake shaft bearing must be shot, wobbly.

The only one I had a chance to acquire was BUNED in a fire. Engine was partly melted it had gotten so hot. It would have been an amazing yard art piece. I passed it up

Mine wouldn't look near as good as yours.
