Headlights yeah or nay

Stuck these lights on the 1257 today just to see what they look like. The holes are already there so dont know if I want to fill them in, leave them alone, or run these lights? They would be handy in the dark  of night . What is everyone’s opinion?

I kinda like them.  Makes the tractor look alert and ready to go.

 

But, your tractor, your choice.  If you operate a lot at night, looks take second place to being able to see in the dark.

  The holes were already there AND they serve a useful purpose. Keep em! 
  These were already on my 857 when I bought it at the Wheel Horse Show a couple years back, so they’re going to stay.

I run a lot of lights day and night. Both to see and be seen... I vote you keep them.

I have never plowed snow after sundown but do have the lights on when I a\m plowing in the event someone is out on the roads.

Looks like its unanimous so far that I keep um. I thought I would of liked them better if they were mounted a little lower, kinda where @Sparky and @Bar Nuthin has there's', but they are kinda growing on me. Gotta admit if the holes weren't already there I wouldn't have even thought about putting them on there.

  Not an oil wipe-down, previous owner shot my 857 with clear coat. It’s permanent !

I like the lights. 

 

The older I get, the more I prefer doing yard work at night anyway. Adding good lights has become a thing for my machines. My son's Ranger and my 701 are the only ones I have with no lights.

I live RIGHT ON a state highway so lights on.

 

Probably the most fun I had as a kid was plowing lake effect snow at night with a 604 with no lights!  That was until the Tecky didn't want run anymore!

Having used our machines on a regular basis in the dawn, dusk, and full dark I've grown to greatly prefer the higher mounting point. 

The light spread and distance is better. 

You get a better illumination over a raised plow or even a snowblower.

Feebay. Had them for awhile, they were supposed to go on the 701 but never got around to makeing a repro HL5 bracket for it.

@WHX?? Cant speak for others but I never lost faith in ya. Never crossed my mind you would molest a perfectly good hood by drilling extra holes in it.

Good Lord no ... I cringe when I see Dan @Achto doing it. He says he know how to weld them back up. I ask him can I save the 60 year old drill shavings... 

 

Gotta tell ya Squirrelly sure does make a guy feel good when one sells a tractor to a guy that can take care of it.

Shucks yeah, Stater/Gen. long hood with that HY2 unit on there, I was hooked.
