No, but I caught alot of rides on them. Same for the Huey, and a few hops in a Chinook.

I was enlisted for 4 years in aviation maintenance before becoming a Warrant Officer and going to flight school. I flew TH-67s, and OH-58A/C/T models. I got a short maintainence flight in the AH-64A front seat as well.

My time got cut short (life happens) so I didn't get to fly as much as I wanted to. But I wouldn't trade anything for my couple years as an aviator.

I loved the jet Ranger… Basically the TH 67 you flew at Rucker, and I did a crap load of crop dusting in the OH 58. Solid machine. Those two helicopters really teach you how to manage power.

did you become an A&P?
I always like to hear the stories of former army, aviators and maintenance officers… I work with a lot of them today🇺🇸❤️

Yes they do. Of course the OH-58 A/C models are a little better than the civie 206... that extra foot on the main rotor does help some.

No, I worked on a phase team for the 64s, and stayed in the armament and electronics. The mechanics took care of the engines and drive systems. I still got exposure to alot of the mechanics side, but was not my primary job while enlisted.

And we are proving the old story is true: Aviation geeks like to talk aviation! I'll always be a rotorhead, but I like anything that flies.
