No, this is not gonna work properly either. It is effectively the same as the setup in your image and just as bad for the governor. (Hint--there is no spring between the throttle cable and the carb throttle actuator) You have two choices. 1. Keep your current setup but remove the link between the governor arm and the throttle actuator on top of the carb. This lets you have direct control of the throttle but without any assistance from (or risk to) the governor. 2. Reposition your control cable and connect it to the spring-loaded part of the governor assembly near the pivot (as shown in a couple of the other members’ photos above and in my post below) and then follow the manual’s steps to reset the governor. This lets the system work as designed where you set a desired speed and the governor helps by adjusting the throttle. Handy Don 15,205 #27 Posted 19 hours ago (edited) The green arrow points to the correct place on the spring-loaded part of the governor assembly. You cannot see the spring in this image but it is there, hidden behind the governor arm, and putting tension between the circular part with the holes and the “L-shaped” governor arm in front of it. The extra holes in the governor assembly are there to accommodate control cables coming from different directions. This engine got used in many different situations.
