  Did some striping with my 867 tonight. Probably needs new or sharpened blades on the 32” rear discharge deck, still not a bad cut for a 59 year old rig! 
  I will be on the lookout for a nice (not a project) 36” deck for this machine at the Wheel Horse Show.

I “mulched” a 4ft tall back yard for a relative with my 401 after knocking it down with the 36” Jari sickle bar. Not recommended.

I mowed the neighborhood volunteer fire departments lawn with the 312. I also weedwacked around the building, poles and other lawn ornaments. It was mowed a few days ago but it needed another pass. No photo’s as I had my nephews 8th grade graduation to go to immediately after so I was hustling. Here’s a pic of the 312 which was the setup for the FD lawn mowing.

We’re rapidly moving into summer now. The multi day 70+ degree days mixed with rain seem to be expediting the season change and the explosive grass growth.

I used my C160 and the 36” RD deck to mow the front yard, then took off the mower deck and installed the cultivators and stirred up the garden, trying to stay ahead of weeds, and perfect timing for expected rain.

i noticed that the tension spring on the deck had broken, so I ordered a new one when I went inside.

 

When I install the new spring, I am going to try putting some plastic tubing on the contact areas at the end loops of the spring…. Might make it last longer.

Broke out my C-85 tonight for its first mow of the season.

Did some mowing trying to beat the rain yesterday. Triple teamed it with both my boys, youngest on the zero turn, oldest on the Kubota, dear old dad gets mowers choice on the C160.

  I get the need for speed when rains coming in. But I enjoy mowing and the seat time it gives me, so a slow WH is just fine with me.

Yes sir, I know that feeling. I bought a new Toro zero turn in 2002. 72” deck, 26hp fuel injected Kohler, it was an absolute mowing beast. I got 23 years of literal trouble free service out of it, literally not one thing ever messed up with it until last year when the ecu went out. It’s been at a Toro dealer for months trying to get it figured out, so I decided to buy a Wheel Horse to use in the mean time and that’s how I ended up here. Funny how for decades my goal was to just get it done as fast as possible, and it ultimately led me to hate mowing. That and it was my job for years as I worked in golf course maintenance. Getting these 2 old wheel horses has actually made mowing fun for me again. 
 

I do miss my big zero turn though, I babied it and it only has 700 hours. I always maintained it and kept it inside. The guys at the Toro dealer can’t believe how good of condition it’s in. It will still have its place when I hopefully get it back but so will my Wheel Horses.
