SNOW PLOW EXTENSION IDENTIFY ?

I recently purchased this extension for a snow plow but don't know what model WH it is meant for.  4 inches longer than one for a 520H. Any of you experts have an opinion?

Is that the part to extend the plow forward about 4" when you have a model like the 520H with the HD forward swept front axle?? Certainly, looks like it...

Yes, this is a extension for a plow frame but information I have found here on the forum it is 4" longer than the correct one. Pictures on forum showing dimensions of correct extension overall is 12 1/4 inches. This extension is 16" overall as shown in pictures.  I tried using this on my frame but puts the bracket for pivot lever to far front which hits steering linkage when raising plow frame up. Was advertised as extension for 520 WH. I have a 1994 520H.

Maybe a 200 series?

Unless it was for adapting a standard 3-,4-, or 5-series plow to work on a 520xi?

The xi’s have longer wheelbases 52" inches vs. 47.5 for the 520-H (not swept) -- a difference of 4.5 inches

the pics show measurements of the plow frames, distance taken from the swivel bolt in the front.

 

 

Difference of lifting attachment points, xi is 52 1/2  Also the standard plow handle will need modified for

use on the xi because the running boards are wider and different.

Thanks Don & Joe. I think the info you two have presented shows that the extension I have is for 3, 4 and 5 series plows to use on the XI series tractors. It seems to be the only explanation.  Has any of you ever seen or heard of this extension being available?

I haven’t, but I’ve not had much contact with the xi machines.

That said, it makes perfect sense to me that Toro would make a few fairly inexpensive parts to adapt a widely-available “standard” dozer blade rather than make an xi-specific frame. The xi’s were not a high-volume product line.

There was a retrofit kit to use the 300-500-Series blade on the 5xi but looks like it was the 5xi frame only so the older blade could be added. No extension included.

My first instinct would be to add an extra ¾” rod through the side plates at the distance you need for your tractor and let the thing hang out the back

That extension shown in the picture submitted by gwest-ca certainly looks just like the extension I have. Thank you everyone!

I fabricated an extension to mount an earlier model snow plow to my 518xi.
I don’t recall dimensions but the plow does clear the tires by about 2” at both angle settings.

If it were me I would try and find correct bracket and not molest that one, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
