I'm not positive here.... I believe the 8.8 is the "advertised width" of the tire. The 22 should be the wheel diameter. Many (most?) Garden Tractor tires are on a 12" wheel. The middle number is the width. The first number is the outer diameter of the tire. There are a few tires that don't get even remotely close to the actual size with their advertised size. You may very well find that getting two new tires is far easier and less expensive than shopping for usable used ones. Factor in your own time and fuel.
