1987_WHEEHORSE312 53 #1 Posted 4 hours ago So I think I have a bad vent issue with the Gas Cap on my 312-8. After about an hour of running the motor sputters real bad like there is no fuel, and when I pull the chose it seems to resolve for a few minutes and then sputters again. When I go to check the gas, the cap is extremely hard to twist off, and feels way tighter then when I put it back on, like there is a vacuum in the tank. With that being said it seems like the fuel filter doesn't have a lot of gas in it either. I do have a tank shutoff at the bottom of the tank that I know can get a clogged screen, but I want to replace the cap with a cheap TSC one for the time being to see if the issue resolves its self before I spend $40+ dollars on one with a gauge. If it doesn't resolve its self then I'll investigate further, but with winter setting in, and no warm place to work on my tractor would rather start simple. With that being said can anyone drop part number to a generic cap from TSC that would work? Thanks!

Handy Don 14,856 #3 Posted 2 hours ago The gauge cap on my Snapper has a thumbscrew to open/close the venting action (it’s there because the mower can be stood on end for access to the blade or for storage and it prevents fuel from leaking out). If I forget to open it, it does fuel-starve the engine after running for a while. Other gauge caps I’ve seen have a small hole in the clear bezel that must remain un-clogged. Any idea where the vent would be on a Wheelhorse Stock gas cap?
