1967-68 Lawn Ranger Info

I'm thinking about selling my L-107 Lawn Ranger.  I have rebuilt the original Tecumseh 6hp engine, replaced trans seals, rebuilt and reinforced the fender pan, refurbished the mower deck, repaired the cracked hood, repainted the tractor and replaced the decals. Basically it has been refurbished for work. It has mowed my yard (2/3 acre of steep contours) for a couple of years, but my yard is more than it should handle. It is a great little tractor, but I am running out of project room and need to make room for other projects. What is a good price point for it?

Well, somewhere between free & priceless. Sorry, condition is everything, we cannot begin to define the ballpark without a few good pictures of it. A short video of it running is most helpful too.

Yeah, I wrote the original post on a device without the pics available. Here's a picture after the first year of use. Unfortunately I don't have one of it running, and it is put away for the winter so can't get one easily.

That may be a 1968 1-1631 Lawn ranger.  I base that on the hood decals and the gauge wheel mountings on the deck and the 3 spoke steering wheel.

Nice looking tractor  Love my L-107  Wish you were closer

OK - I'll take a stab at it for a ballpark price.... $300. You are not going to put a kid thru college with the money from selling it.

Bear in mind that it is a Lawn Ranger, not a B or C Series...

IMHO (and others will disagree) it is a Grass Cutter, not a Garden Tractor. To me, it is one step above an RER  Rear Engine Rider style.

Having a Tecumseh engine, no matter how well it runs, is not as desirable as an electric start Kohler either.

Thanks for the info. I was guessing on the model number since I didn't look at the manuals I have. This was a complete frame up refurbish. Fun winter project.

I guess I will be one of the ones to disagree.  Transmission frame and front axle are the same as bigger horses (ok front axle is bit narrower.) Only real difference is the size of the wheel/tires and the Techy 6 hp vs Kohler 7 or 8 hp.  It will not pull a Moldboard plow  or a tiller (well it will pull one of old self powered ones) or mid mount grader blade. ...but other than that it can plow snow, blow snow, mow grass and pull stuff.  The replacement HH70 on my L-107 is 34 years old and has been used consistently since installation, the last 25 years 4 to 6 times a week in good weather 2 or so per week in the winter. .  She is starting to smoke a bit on start up but when I use the recoil  two pulls cold one hot. ...and she will pull away immediately no warm up  required like some of my kohlers.    And she is a lot easier to get on and off than her bigger brothers...

Sorry I really like Ranger

Paul - that is a valid point. The smaller tires & low back seat team up to make it "cute"!
