Krice58 95 #1 Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Original muffler rotted out and I didn’t want to pay $250 for another. So about $70 in pipe fittings and a Ford muffler from TC. Need to figure out a support to help with the weight. Edited 4 hours ago by Krice58
ebinmaine 74,640 #2 Posted 4 hours ago A holding bracket can be done pretty well with a piece of strap Steel bent to the right configuration that gets it down to the engine block or frame. If you look at old pictures of my Cinnamon Horse C160-8 that's what I did. What are you going to do for the top? Bend or flapper?

I like it, but I’m not entirely sure I’m going to stick with it. Might change it to a bend.

Might change it to a bend. I put a bend on mine when I built it. I don't recall if I had a specific reason or if it's just the way that worked out. The one thing I would say about that is, Be aware of any writing or usage habits before you The bend off to the side like I did. Example: My exhaust points to the right. Normally the chipper is what lives on that tractor and you feed that from the left or from the top. If I am feeding from the top of the hopper, and if I am working off to the right hand side of the tractor, I have to be conscious of not getting the exhaust blown in my face. Just food for thought.

If I did switch to the bend I was planning on just bolting a small tailpipe spout on with a muffler clamp to test it before I would get it tacked in place.
ri702bill 10,089 #6 Posted 1 hour ago Consider replacing the lower 90 degree elbow with a reducing run tee. I tapped a pipe plug 3/8-16 for the strap bolt... supports it right under the area of most weight. I also tack welded all the pipe joints to keep them aligned...
