That’s the type I use, and I grind the one little protruding metal bit so it can’t turn and scrape the cone pulley.

So if I use a spring as you suggest, that would benefit as well. So the spring goes to where exactly off that clip? Frame hitch pin? Can you get a picture of one of yours? There’s also a way to use a spring on the throw lever, we discussed this quite a ways back whenever I first built the 800 Special.

super thin rub of Ultra Black RTV

I do that often.. at least on one side.  Some people use chapstick, to give that wax ring style seal, but not stick together.  That’s a hot rodder carburetor trick some old guy at work (my boss) taught me!

@Manicmacanic  glairing to me ,regularly  look at  ease of functional operation , EVERYWHARE , BASICALLY  HOW CAN I , IMPROVE THIS ? your related FRAME MOUNT ,  to swing arm   is called a hitch pin clip , simply changed direction of pin   circle mount s to  allow an extension spring  for a  noise stopping /  clearance verified , connection . done a lot of this simple type of  problem  eliminating , circle to circle  spring tension stops the buzzing  hardware  noise .  regularly do this type of  trials .also related to this, is pulley  lubrication issues , INCREMENTAL  bearing hang ups , regularly  starts a BELT BOUNCE . thats a whole  different issue . thats what led me to  a  grease , clean / change out , in every related bearing  , on decks , have this in play for years  , no noise or vibration , or bearing failures , also have smooth / quiet  pto lever engagement  , never burned out a clutch disc . working on a tire  chain idea now , pete

Yeah, that’s great for stuff you must open up more than once, I certainly hope this won’t be the case!

You know that is a simple thing, now that I get where you’re going with the spring, long as it doesn’t interfere.

Another challenge will be the sickle bar and related vibrations

@Manicmacanic  often refer to  using a roller stool , so i can  look at / watch  what's going on , ironically  many corrections / eliminations  , are  a small adjustment away  .  did a lot of that  on my first  plow frame , heim joint conversion / steering quadrant  detailing , squeeze lever  function was the  main issue  in swing ease ,  original  bolt nut  connections , were restricting  , initial  swing . cure for , bolt / nut  setting  / function ?  simple SHOULDER BOLT  , ensuring  solid / smooth swing , flat washers  let you  get a  perfect  smooth / easy swing , having a helper  to engage anything  , lets you WATCH  WHAT IS SCREWING UP . roller stool  , lets you comfortably , look at every phase . try out a shoulder bolt  , with  flat washers  , regular nut ? dial in a perfect lubricated swing , tension ,   movement , then remove regular nut  and replace it with an ELASTIC LOCK NUT  , to hold that  setting , easy , pete
