mrc 1,000 #1 Posted October 24 hello men, earlier this year i had to remove the tranny from my bronco14 to re-seal the motion control shaft. the shaft does not leak now. however i've noticed a small amount of ATF leaking from what appears to be between the 'F' plate and the tranny. i did put some pipe dope on the bolts when reinstalling the tranny. perhaps not enough? what do you guys use? thank you mike
ri702bill 10,084 #2 Posted October 25 Mike - the top two mounting holes are tapped thru, the lowers are blind. I like to use Permatex #2 on the threads of the upper bolts at assembly. Do not use Permatex #1 - that stuff gets crystalized hard and is tough to remove. The #2 is non-hardening. And messy to work with...... 1

mrc 1,000 #4 Posted October 28 thank you bill and ed. i mixed up some dawn dish washing liquid and hot water in a bucket. i used an old paint brush and applied it all over the tranny. then rinsed with the garden hose. then i drove around the neighborhood and parked it on a BIG piece of cardboard in the garage. no leaks. i think it was just some residual ATF from when i resealed the motion control shaft.
