JoeM 8,794 #1 Posted October 20 (edited) Working on this Bad Boy zero hero, doing a service and the owner ask if I could fab up some kind of plow. Looking around the net I was surprised to find there are kits for these things and some folks say they do a good job. Figuring something quick to install and remove was the plan. I have used a receiver for a plow before and it worked out great. So I am going down that road with this one. Not mine just a pic from the net So most plows clamp on and off but think it would be just best to pull one pin. Edited October 20 by JoeM
ebinmaine 74,401 #2 Posted October 20 Interesting setup. Will it have an angle too?
ri702bill 9,974 #3 Posted October 20 Hmmm... having the pivot up that high, to clear the caster wheels, along with no trip feature is that not begging for the blade edge to dig in & raise the front wheels off the ground??? Perhaps a down-travel stop to set the blade to skim the ground? Nice fabrication by the way.

And your frame mounted receiver looks much stronger and lower than the clamp to caster wheel arrangement. Anxious to see your lift and angle design. BTW, I see these sold for scrap price at the auction. Edited October 20 by Ed Kennell

Yes Just a reference pic @ri702bill The pivot will be much lower on, (about half way down) and the plow will have a trip mechanism. I made a mental note on the level stop. Good idea! This is the donor plow blade assy I picked up from auction. These older craftsmen blades are way heaver than the newer ones. 1 hour ago, Ed Kennell said: I see these sold for scrap price at the auction. One receiver tube would cost more than that whole pile. think a 12" tube is going for about $15 now. Lost of potential in that pile.
DET 111 #6 Posted October 20 Here are some pics of what I did. Originally bought the Craftsman plow and intended to mount on the Exmark. Looking on the internet for ideas on how to mount it I found a company in Mansfield Ohio that I bought the needed mounting hardware from. The Craftsman blade lets me be able to angle the blade and has the tip mechanism. I’ve used it the last 3 years and it has worked well.
JoeM 8,794 #7 Posted yesterday at 02:14 PM A little update. Plows on and back with the owner. He really liked the geezer bar.
SylvanLakeWH 29,247 #8 Posted yesterday at 02:20 PM I've used the HF winch on my blade for couple years. Working on adding one to back of another worker for a rake, back blade, single bottom plow. Works great and can't beat the price... 1
