Fixed up the 520 a little bit since I’ve gotten it. By no means am I a painter or body work guy, but I think it looks okay for a worker. Need to figure out some wheel spacers for the rear. I had some 23 x 10.5s off of another horse I put on there and it’s rubbing on the fuel tank support. Hub cabs were pretty pitted, so I went red to hide it a bit. Still need to get a seat, new stickers and new headlights. Not super happy with my painting, so I might redo some stuff come spring. I’ll have to see about getting some things sandblasted.

Looks pretty darn good to me.  Wheel spacers, decals and a seat and you're cookin'.  :greetings-clappingorange:

Surely better than you found it.  AND don't call me Shirley!

Thanks for sharing.  I hope that is is a great worker!  What are the big ole trees in the background? Not enough information for me to identify.  Leaves or a closer bark shot would tip me.

Enjoy riding that horse sir!

Hah!  My wife and I always use that one on each other. :laughing-rolling:

We just watched the new Naked Gun movie and it made me think of that line... of course it was in the 1980 parody film Airplane when Leslie Nielsen said the line "I am serious... and don't call me Shirley" but cross-references are okay with me.

Same guy.  same shameless slapstick just funny stuff.  Yes sir.  I say and write things on porpoise just to see if folks are rich enough to pay attention.

Pretty sure they’re red maple. Another one drops acorns, so black oak, maybe?

Yeah, guy I got them from had them on a 312-8 he used for tilling. Anyone got any suggestions for spacers? From what I’ve read should be a 5 on 4.5 pattern, which I think a lot of Ford and Chryslers were back in the day.

Guessing they would most likely fit without spacers if you switched them on to those original 520 wide rims.

Something looks off with the offset because I ran 10.5s on machines without using spacers

Yeah, mine is an 88 and came with 9.5 wides, but I’m pretty sure the later ones made in the 90s came with 10.5s. The original rims are the same ones my 312-8 and 314-8 have.

There's not a lot of room to spare, my 1989 520-H is real close with the 9.50"s there may be 1/2" clear on the left side. The 88 and 89 came with 7" wide wheels.

You can add 1inch spacers without too many issues.

If you have a 42 inch mower deck, give it a test fit first to make sure your tires clear the adjustment bar and gage wheels with room to add 1 inch on either side.

My 48 inch deck is on a tractor that has 2 inch spacers on either side and 520 wide rear wheels and has no clearance issues, but my 42 rubs the gage wheels.

Of course these spacers and the required hardware can be expensive. A cheaper option might be the 1/4 to 1/2 flat spacers that work with studs and traditional lugnuts. They are readily available and easy to install. Studs (7/16×20×1.5) bolts from the backside and matching lugnuts will make your life easier with or without spacers.

I ordered some 1 inch spacers similar to the ones you have in the first image. I use a 48 inch deck, so it should be okay. Hopefully an inch is enough. I think I am going to go the bolt from the back method. You think 1.5 inch is enough with the spacer or a 2 inch long bolt? For the nut just like an automotive acorn?

Yeah, mine was close with the 9.5s too. Ordered some one inch spacers, we’ll see if that works.
