What is wrong with here?

So I noticed yesterday while mowing that there was a squeak coming from one of the rear wheels on my 8 speed C120. Upon inspection I see that hub is now rubbing against transmission case on left side. It was about 1-1/2” away like the other side. Wheel is now fully under fender. Seems like I have to take this transmission apart now. Any ideas as to what happened?

Is the axle sticking out that same 1 1/2" on the outside of the hub?

Perhaps the hub has loosened and slid inward...

Cas - the hub has "walked" inward, most likely due to an issue with the fit of the woodruff key and the slot in the hub. Is the keyway wallowed out??

Didn’t even think of that. Checking that now. I recently put weights on it. Perhaps that contribute to it or I forgot to tighten something. Forgetting stuff has been an everyday occurrence lately.

The weight likely didn't cause the issue directly.

I run both fluid filled tires and steel weights on Cinnamon Horse C160-8.

Hubs are tight.

You probably should replace the set screws. They're limited use.

Just be thankful the hub walked inward and not the other way!

Too much going on here health wise. Can’t think straight most of the times to the point that I am becoming dangerous.

When there are two setscrews on a hub, I remove the one NOT over the keyway  and withe the hub flush and the other setscrew tight, I use the tap drill (5/16") to go thru the hole to dimple the axle to a full drill point. reinstalling the setscrew does two things - the tip is below flush on the shaft to prevent walking. The same does not raise a burr to allow hub removal easier in the future.... IF there is only one setscrew, I add a second when the hub is off.
