Pete M76 7 #1 Posted October 6 Hello all, I had an issue with my C165 recently. While mowing, the engine revved up and sounded like it was running way too fast. I shut it down and started looking into it. I thought perhaps something had happened with the governor internally. When I got it back to the garage, I started looking around to see if anything obvious broke. Looking at the carburetor, the choke shaft felt very lose and had a pretty good amount of play. Since I had a spare carb on hand, I replaced it and engine fired back up and ran normally, so definitely carb related. So a couple of questions: Has anyone experience something similar? The number on the carb is 4505320 I can't seem to find a kit for the 4505320 but even if I could, it doesn't seem like the kit comes with anything related to the choke shaft. I thought I read something about replacing bushings for this shaft? Just looking for some advice from the experts. Thanks! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Achto 29,804 #2 Posted October 6 Rebuild kit for a Carter carb - 25 757 02-S Rebuild kit for a Walbro carb - 45-053-71, 45 053 71, 47 053 72 These kits do not come with any shaft components though. If you have a Carter carb and the shaft bushing on the butterfly shaft are worn, it could suck air past it. There is a recess in the body for the bushing. Bushing size is 7/16"od X 1/4"id x 1/8" thick, or 2 bushings that are 1/16" thick. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The throttle shaft is where the bushings can be installed. Hillman can supply but do not have the part number handy. The 25 757 02-S repair kit should work for that carb number. When you are looking at Kohler info they call a complete carb a carburetor kit. A repair kit is what you are after. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
