857 and a new to me RM367 mower deck.

Good Day All

Have a couple of years of on and off searching, I found a RM367 mower deck in decent shape considering it was outside under a pile of vines.

Blades were installed backwards  (left/right reversed) but the deck appears to have been undercoated.

Anyway, all it needed was a set a belts and blades sharpened.

My question concerns the return spring for the attachment clutch pedal: Where does it attach? If I attach it to housing on the clutch pedal (where the trip leveris mounted) it binds and trip lever wont lock when it releases the belt. Currently I have it attached to the hair pin on the inner hole of the trip lever that holds the clutch link. This 'spring loads' the trip lever to the release position. It works, but Im sure that is not how it was originally. I have both the the Operation and Service Manuals for the tractor and the mower, but it really doesn't address this.

Also, trying to run down a set of replacement blades to have on hand. Haven't been able to track part numbers from the original 4116/4117 other than a 8014 Toro blade kit that, for what ever reason, averages about 120 bucks. If this all there is, I'll bite the bullet. If there are other alternatives, let me know.

Thanks to all who respond. Pictures would be a bonus.

It clips on the cotter pin on the pedal linkage and another cotter pin on the frame

There are files on here and it lists modern day replacements for the blades, I don't remember off the top of my head what those numbers are but I do remember that they are around $120

Loop head of a cotter pin at both ends. Simple and effective.

Other blade numbers: 7906, 7907 NOS (I don’t know if these have a different shape or not)

Try https://davespartsworld.com. He had at least one 8014 set at the Big Show

Pic below shows the correct spring placement on the engagement peddle. The spring puts rotational tension on the trip lever as well as putting tension on the PTO belt.

And that spring may rub the underside of the belt guard. It is my understanding that the 36" blades are NLA, the 32" version is still around.

Do check the condition of the large cast iron spindle housing underneath for cracks - common but not a showstopper...

Actually the 36" are available and the 32" aren't. And I need a pair of 32's but I'm not paying $150 +++ for them!

Thanks to All who responded, especially Achto for the pic. Basically I have it correct, just need to relocate it to the outside hole and use steel cotter pins instead of the hair pins. Also thanks for the leads on blades. I have seen blades for the 32" deck on Flea Bay that were RESONABLE priced. There is a small independent mower repair shop in town that deals with STENS. I will see what he has to offer.

  Thanks again

The 32" blades are #8777. I have never seen them on E bay or even reasonable anywhere. If you search the WH #8777 on E bay now it shows set of aftermarket blades that are not correct. Your 36" deck takes WH# 8014
