Sparky-(Admin) 23,619 #1 Posted September 28 Yanked the motor for a project, any tips on tank removal ?
peter lena 9,374 #2 Posted September 28 @Sparky opportunity , washer up the sloppy start of your PTO LEVER , side of the battery tray , like a gold mine for improvement's, would also consider running a frame length steel fuel line , eliminate lots of fuel hose break down , auto brake line tucks right in the upper corner of the frame , that pto lever rod , used a 3/8x24 die nut , ran right over original 3/8x16 threads , heim screwed right on . also did my related , mule drive bearings , clean out , lucas xtra hd , green chassis grease , mower deck added belt idler , stop belt bounce , pto outer swing mount , lube , extension spring , to hitch pin clip ,on frame , stops lever rod attachment noise . like said , a GOLD MINE for improvement . this area , made me a convert , for reliability , worth a look, pete
Sparky-(Admin) 23,619 #3 Posted September 28 Tank is out…requires starter removal. And unknown to this guy the starter “popped open” once it was out ans in my hand and getting it back together and those 4 little magnets back in place was a complete nightmare! But I won after much swearing This is the tractor that will be getting the Mag8. The current motor is a tired Teccy HH70.

I believe that Mag 8 has the dido charging system not the 15 amp one. 1

Sparky-(Admin) 23,619 #8 Posted Sunday at 10:13 PM Magnum is in, had to move it forward to clear the battery and the fuel tank isn’t going to work. Choke and throttle all set, wiring harness moved over but not hooked up. But I have it all figured out in my head . Have a fuel tank that will work. Belt will be interesting. 1/2” on the tranny input and idler pulley, 5/8” on the motor. Will need a new 1” ID pulley on the Magnum. Would like a 3” to increase ground speed just a wee bit. Father son project, good times!

Retired Wrencher 5,974 #10 Posted Monday at 10:15 AM (edited) Looks like it’s a good project Mike. Did you finish it or you still have more work to do on it? Edited Monday at 10:15 AM by Retired Wrencher

Have to get a new drive pulley and figure out the belt length, and get a fuel tank situated as well. Wiring from the 308 has been moved over but still needs to be hooked up. Really we just got the motor positioned and bolted on, and the choke/throttle done.

Sparky-(Admin) 23,619 #13 Posted Monday at 10:58 PM Got the wiring sorted so I have it cranking. Then prepped myself for the drive pulley removal..well that sucker came right off with minimum effort! Is it normal to have two set screws on both set screw holes??

Seems like someone was in there before too because that key looks wonkie. Factory key is gonna be flat and square. Maybe they added the set screws too

They are aggressive, it’s the “look” my son wanted for his show cruiser. He also wants a small stack and I have a few of the Jim Kemp types here laying around.
