Rollerman 290 #1 Posted February 14, 2008 First this is a continuation of this thread..... It's gettin to be 2 pages in length so I thought I make it a little quicker to load & start over? Well as of 3AM "Pond insomnia again" this old girl is standing proud again on all four wheels. Although one of them has a slight sssssssssssssss. I'm surprised it does not roll very good in neatral...but with all the gear reduction & crude gears at that she's a little hard to budge. I can grab the input shaft & spin it & ever so slightly see movement at the wheels. I'll be going after a parts engine this weekend that will have all the peices I'm missing. Still needing to make a repair to the lift handle that is in the base of the seat before I mount it up. Getting excited to drive this thing! Here's tonights pics..... Stigian 1,234 #2 Posted February 14, 2008 All the old girl rolls again Nice work Stephen maybe the slight tire hisssssss will vanish as the tires settle in a bit :P
Rollerman 290 #3 Posted February 14, 2008 Ian it's in the valve stem.....I'll get some new cores in town tommorrow & see if that does it. Already "Green Slimed" them. I hope I won't have to pull that tire...the tractor sat for so long buried into the dirt both the back tires have a bad spot on them from being pancaked for so many years. I think dismounting them to replace the tubes could create more problems.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,345 #4 Posted February 14, 2008 Stephen, The "Pond" is coming along nicely. It's good to see it on all fours. I hope a new valve core fixes the hissing.

Rollerman 290 #8 Posted February 14, 2008 The engine that came on this tractor is actually in great shape internally. But the gas tank mount, air cleaner & neck were missing. The rest of the parts engine will go towards the other Pond when I start fixing it up.

Nick 13 #13 Posted February 14, 2008 The Pond is looking good Stephen. Now the question.. When you get it finished will you brave the chance of breakage and put the ole girl to work? Maybe plow the garden or show the new guys what she will do at a pull? Nick in ohio

Looking good stephen can't wait itll you get it done so I can stop up and get a look at it Joel any time...there's a rail right buy the house if you want to try jumping. will you brave the chance of breakage and put the ole girl to work? Probably won't work it to hard Nick...I think she's earned her retirement by makeing it all these years & avoiding a scraper. I may pull a lawn roller or my 60" reel mower setup for fun once in a while though. Thanks for the compliments guys, Eldon comeing from you thats a real compliment knowing your work! Rollerman 290 #18 Posted February 25, 2008 Time for the latest update as of 2-24-08 I wanted to get the engine running to an extent before I painted it up & I'm still waiting on a peice of 3/4" round stock to repair the lift lever that part of the seat base....so it's not painted yet. So I put things together & took my first drive today! Looks like I'll need to get a carb kit...it wants to run on the choke. Pardon the stunt driver...he's long overdue for a haircut & he has his gruby shop clothes on.
