Rear pulley

Hey y'all I'm new here but I was kind of concerned. Has anyone replaced the rear transaxle pulley to a 4 inch? if so what belt size would I need? all of the other pulleys are stock and I think the stock transaxle was either a 6 inch or a 6.5. Seems I'm having a hard time trying to find the right belt size. Does anyone know what it would be?

I've not made changes like that, so the following is general advice - not actual knowledge.

A change like that will speed the tractor up to be about 30 % faster in all gears.  You will need a longer drive belt - 2" shorter would be a good starting point.  Might need more, might need less.  Hard to predict.  Others have found that trial and error works better to find a new belt size for this type of modification than calculations.  You will also have to make adjustments to the belt guides to properly support and hold the belt when the clutch is disengaged.

Please remember that the brakes on a Wheel Horse are limited.  Higher top speed might mean brake improvements as well.

Good bunch of folks here on the forum.  Somebody out there has probably tried doing the same thing and will be along shortly to chime in.

Good luck and have fun.
