Easton Rich 680 #1 Posted September 14 Bought a 520-H and a 656 today, kind of impulse buys, but I’m happy! The two are getting delivered tomorrow. What should I expect? The 520 doesn’t run but it’s in decent shape. The 656 on the other hand, a little worse, sorry a LOT worse. Pictures when they come tomorrow

Easton Rich 680 #3 Posted September 14 The 520 was $125 and the 656 was $45 so it was a given that I bought them 4
ri702bill 9,697 #4 Posted September 14 Pull the 9 pin connector on the 520 apart to look for signs of overheating damage...
953 nut 61,081 #5 Posted September 14 Also you should do a compression check on the Onan before going too far into the 520. 1
Easton Rich 680 #6 Posted September 14 Ok, if it has no compression what should I expect after? Bad head gasket? I’ve heard about the 9 pin connector before….

Lee1977 7,298 #8 Posted September 14 (edited) Be sure to remove the engine cover and fender pan and clean all the cooling fins. The Onan moves a lot of air and will blow dirt and grass in to fill the fins. When change the oil filter make sure the half circle under the filter is clean of oil. Make sure the rubber engine vent on top of the engine is tight. Edited September 14 by Lee1977

Lee1977 7,298 #15 Posted September 15 It's worth $125 the front axle and wheels are worth that. The slot hitch on the 656 is worth the $45. Both can be be made into nice tractors.
Easton Rich 680 #16 Posted September 15 I think so too
Easton Rich 680 #17 Posted September 15 The 520 lives! I filled the tank with gas changed the oil and it fired right up! No spark problem. Now for the 656, what should I do with it?
Easton Rich 680 #18 Posted September 15 I will be posting a wanted ad in the classifieds also, but I’m in need of a set of fenders and a hood for my 520. If you’ve got something PM me. Thanks

If you’ve got something PM me. Thanks The 520 bodywork doesn’t look horrible. The sheet metal is pretty soft and you could get the dents out pretty easy with a rubber hammer/metal hammer and a block of wood. I fixed a pushed in nose on a spare hood like that. The dent in my 312’s hood was significantly worse before I massaged the hood on it.The fenders on the 520 look decent and could be fixed the same way. Easton Rich 680 #20 Posted September 16 Yeah, I’ll see if I can get them out. Some are pretty bad that the camera doesn’t show. I’ll try to get some close-ups tomorrow.

You probably saw that the OP mentioned the carb on his well abused tractor.
