Modify a RD deck to use a leaf vacuum?

Recommended Posts

Rusty_Tractor

Hi folks, I have a 42" rear discharge deck on my B-100 and I would like to do one of 2 things:

1) make a scoop to use the leaf vac on the RD deck or

2) modify a crappy 36" RD deck to shoot grass out the side

Does any of this sound doable?

Thanks,

Jamie

I am sure it is possible to do either with enough effort thrown at it.

It would be even easier to pull a lawn sweeper behind you.

If you're looking to permenantly modify the deck, I would look into swapping with another member first as I'm sure that there's someone willing to trade a SD for a RD deck? I'm sure you could modify the RD deck, but adding baffles, cutting, welding.... It would be easier to find another deck.

I know of one guy useing a rear discharge together with a trailer vac.

He used the same material that furnace duct work is made from....in fact he installs them for a liveing.

It's not pretty, but he likes it since the vac hose doesn't hang off the side.
