brentonkjohnson 0 #1 Posted September 23, 2009 Goodmorning, I'm trying to decide between these 2 tractors and don't really know that there is much of a difference other than one has the 10 horse and the other has the 12. Are the older 100's more collectible at all? The price is farely similar and both are the gear drives. One comes with a plow and the other comes with a deck. Really, I just want one to drive a sickle bar mower and disc. Should I hold out for a bigger 16 horse or are these tractors strong enough? Sorry I've got so many questions but I love these tractors and want to know as much as I can before I make the big plunge and buy my first one. They shouldn't make these neat sickle bar mowers and not make enough to go around...man are they hard to locate and cross reference. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you've got, Brent givitsound@hotmail.com

hodge 6 #3 Posted September 23, 2009 If I could only afford one, it would be the 121. Same tractor, 2 more horsepower, more resale value. That is, if the price for both is the same, and they are in similar condition. I would not be afraid of either one.
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #4 Posted September 23, 2009 It doesn't sound like the work your planning on doing would stress out either machine. Take a look at both of them, listen to them run and make your decision that way. If you were looking to do some serious ground work, then HP is your friend. Rollerman 290 #5 Posted September 23, 2009 For running a sickle mower or pulling a disc....either machine will work great & have plenty of power. Personally I'd go with the C 100.....they have a solid mounted engine & the early type of manual lift arm/adjuster. The C 121 uses a anti vibration mounted engine...that sounds good but the rubber isolaters tend to go bad after years of weather, oil, gas spills. Simple to replace, but I just prefer the solid mounted engines. The C 121 also was one of the first to use the wider style hood stand with the newer manual lift lever. Guess it's an old school thing....I like the C 100's :scratchead:
Sarge 3,465 #6 Posted September 24, 2009 Just wait, find a C-160, you won't regret it ... I vote for the older C-series over the -01 types , just something about them. Sarge
can whlvr 994 #7 Posted September 24, 2009 I have both an old style c and the 78,79,c01 series, they are both awsome machines,i agree that you need to look over both machines and choose which one is more solid,i too think you should buy both :scratchead:
