Love to meet a Wheel Horse mechanic

Recommended Posts

Kali25

We just found this forum. I would like to meet a wheel horse mechanic in my area. My son (11) and I just bought a Toro Wheel Horse 16 Hydro, model 73423. It has over 1k on the meter but runs like a charm. Any feedback welcome!

@Kali25

:WRS:  a father and son tractor, :text-bravo:any concerns you might have just ask, someone has already fixed it.  We can walk you through it.  Plus, it's a bonding experience for you and your boy.

That is what we are all about. Though there may be many miles between us we can give you the guidance you may need through this group. If there are any questions you or your son have about the Wheel Horse please feel free to ask.

We’re all Wheel Horse mechanics on this bus, er,  garden tractor.  Some of us actually know what we’re doing.  I’m not one of those people, but I’m better now than when I joined, and you guys can be too!

I really appreciate the warm welcome! Cool. Yes, it is a father son project. We worked on a cubcadet for a while, sold it and now this fine machine. Perhaps I will PM someone and see if I can set up a phone call. I dont mind msging by a phone call is really helpful sometimes.

Dont hesitate to ask any questions here. The only wrong question is the one you don’t ask. Friendly answers here, no rude responses like on some forums. The great moderators make sure of that

One question: the paint work on our machine is quite oxidized (to my eye) and I would think we could buff it up. Any smart way to do this? The bodywork looks fine otherwise. Very little rust and I would hat to have to repaint the whole thing!

I use Penetrol. Just wipe it on with a clean rag and leave it. Two coats usually works.

Here's before and after that I did just last week:

Do you have any power buffing equipment.  While there are a lot of nooks and crannies that have to be done by hand, I bought a Harbor Freight Buffer that uses the hook and loop foam pads. I also use the 3m various grades of cut compound

I have a small power buffer loaned by a friend. Having never done this, I figured I'd ask for some advice! Someone suggested I try Meguiars Ultimate Compound

Try this first thing, it is not aggressive and is well suited for a beginner.  Use with an electric polisher for best results.

Anyone know where we can get the right seat? I won't spend crazy amounts. But would make it look a lot better

I bought this one online. It has a shorter back than yours but I’m very happy with it. You can also try tractorseats.com
