Kali25 8 #1 Posted August 23 We just found this forum. I would like to meet a wheel horse mechanic in my area. My son (11) and I just bought a Toro Wheel Horse 16 Hydro, model 73423. It has over 1k on the meter but runs like a charm. Any feedback welcome!

Some of us actually know what we’re doing. I’m not one of those people, but I’m better now than when I joined, and you guys can be too! Edited August 23 by EB-80/8inPA Oh yeah, and WELCOME! 3
Kali25 8 #9 Posted August 25 I really appreciate the warm welcome! Cool. Yes, it is a father son project. We worked on a cubcadet for a while, sold it and now this fine machine. Perhaps I will PM someone and see if I can set up a phone call. I dont mind msging by a phone call is really helpful sometimes.
oliver2-44 10,875 #10 Posted August 25 Dont hesitate to ask any questions here. The only wrong question is the one you don’t ask. Friendly answers here, no rude responses like on some forums. The great moderators make sure of that
Kali25 8 #11 Posted August 26 One question: the paint work on our machine is quite oxidized (to my eye) and I would think we could buff it up. Any smart way to do this? The bodywork looks fine otherwise. Very little rust and I would hat to have to repaint the whole thing!

Two coats usually works. Here's before and after that I did just last week:

While there are a lot of nooks and crannies that have to be done by hand, I bought a Harbor Freight Buffer that uses the hook and loop foam pads. I also use the 3m various grades of cut compound
Kali25 8 #15 Posted August 27 I have a small power buffer loaned by a friend. Having never done this, I figured I'd ask for some advice! Someone suggested I try Meguiars Ultimate Compound

Kali25 8 #21 Posted August 28 Anyone know where we can get the right seat? I won't spend crazy amounts. But would make it look a lot better
nylyon-(Admin) 8,180 #22 Posted August 28 Very difficult to find a good original seat, and when you do they cost quite a bit. I bought this for my 416, it looks great. https://www.vevor.com/tractor-seat-c_11732/vevor-universal-tractor-seat-lawn-mower-seat-with-micro-switch-and-drainage-holes-6-3-11-8-inch-extended-slot-tractor-seat-for-tractor-loader-excavator-p_010241163453

It has a shorter back than yours but I’m very happy with it. You can also try tractorseats.com
