But it’s my “1445” with the springer seat. Maybe I need a rip cord kill on the back of the toolbox! 2
parsonsponyz 221 #29 Posted August 13 Glad to hear your alright, other than bumps and bruises. I will side with everyone else when it comes to make this a learning experience. Learn from my misfortunes so you don't have to go through them yourself, it hurts way less that way. Take care and remember, getting old is better than the alternative.
AlexR 2,015 #30 Posted August 13 I've definitely hurt myself in similar wound patterns as you did.. but the difference is not all at once and years lol apart haha. Just slow down a bit and and be a little more careful, talking to myself too. Some people just attract accidents and you seem to be one of those people Glad you are ok though!!

Maybe I need a rip cord kill on the back of the toolbox! I've got a deadman switch (curly cue clip on cord and all) on the Honda outboard console on the pontoon I'd be happy to donate. Oh, I just happened to wonder if you made the lifeline on that palm longer? Edited August 13 by 8ntruck
WHX?? 51,885 #32 Posted August 13 (edited) So he texted me about it and I promptly gorfed about a 1/8" off my thumb after i told him to get stitches & while thinking about his injury. On the seat latch of a 1077 no less. Honorable wounds anyway I told him... Since there was no skin left to superglue I opted for the rag and black tape poultice. Was it @Achto said he was gonna wear bubble wrap for the rest of the day? Edited August 13 by WHX?? 1 5 2

Ed Kennell 42,138 #34 Posted August 13 I cringe nearly every day when I see my neighbor and/or his 13yo hired helper working between 4 or 5 horses hitched to discs, brush hogs, plows, etc. Quite often when they make a 180 turn, the outside horse will step over a trace chain and they have to get betwen the horse and equipment to reset. 6

Mickwhitt 5,136 #36 Posted August 13 Crikey Kev! The bruises take a little longer to fade, the cuts a little longer to heal, the memory forgets we are not as good as we were at 18. I'll still be sticking bits back on and papering over bruises long into my frail dotage. Mick

Sobering, but I can fully relate to this, and it’s amazing that this is one of the thoughts that you have when you think it’s the end. 3

When underground and not near a first aid kit someone always had black tape and paper towels. I patched up a few pretty bad ones with that stuff. to this day I like it over band aids. Kev did you think about renewing or making a will while you were dragging the ground? I going to say nope, probably thinking on how to save the rest of the hide. I was getting on a old running hydro, the one where the stick is vertical. Caught my cuffed pant leg on it and took off Was able to grab the key really quick. Even at idle there is a lot of torque. Not as scary as your deal. And I never step up on the running board and snake my leg through, always throw it over the steering wheel.
c-series don 10,141 #40 Posted August 14 Years ago I was pulling a disc harrow with an old Farmall. At the time I was having extremely severe back and neck pain. Looking forward and backward while doing this was almost unbearable. At one point after looking backwards for a while I quickly looked forward and almost passed out in pain. I started to blackout and immediately stopped the tractor in time. This tractor was wide open with just a spring seat. Had I actually passed out and fell off the seat, the tractor would have continued on and the disc would have ran me over. Without a doubt it would have killed me. With the tractor shut down I got off and walked back to the barn. I told the guy who was my boss at the time what happened and he just asked me when I was going back to finish? I realized right then and there that he was more concerned about the work than my safety. 2

Pullstart 67,034 #42 Posted Monday at 10:39 AM So, all was healing well. My hand was looking and feeling good, I trimmed some dead skin away, yee haw. The weekend came, and we were camping. 3 on 3 volleyball was suggested and that was going well also. Boys were up 1 game but it was getting close to becoming even. I went for a rogue ball, and managed to hit the back on my left hand with my right palm, immediately splitting it back open. Liquid bandage to the rescue, and no more volleyball. No more submerging in the pool. We basically started over. 🤦♂️ left handed face palm, of course… 1
