i have a 90 year old customer who is refurbishing a 312-8 to get around his farm on.

He is in need of an adapter to allow him to unlock and swivel his seat for to assist getting on and off safely.

Has anyone ever fabricated something like that?

I got my Dad an old Allis B and needed to make a swivel seat. Found a desk chair swivel base and mounted a seat to it. I drilled a couple of holes in the halves and attached a pin on a chain and slipped the pin in the holes to lock it. Made a step on the hitch bar and he got on and off from the rear.

Allis B’s are very hard to get off the seat. Getting on you kinda just fall in it.

Even with a swivel seat he would need to swing one leg over the steering wheel. He may want to consider on of the newer models with an east step-through mounting.

@ vinyl guy  , had to  learn the  step thru  after my hip replacement , its just better / easier  , one foot is always solid on ground , for step thru , find out , what works best for you , allowing  you to miss shifter  levers , once you do it  , you are  set . pete

Thanks to all for posting these.
I  am repairing my non wheel horse Simplicity 9020 backhoe and a swivel was just what I needed.

I’ve gotta say as you get older. It’s not easy getting on and off these tractors. Even with the Start General tractor which may be one of the easiest to get on and off = no running boards. You definitely have to think first of how you approach you it.

Or also run the risk of kicking the shifter. Bad news if the tractor is running.

My father was having a hard time getting on and off his tractors at the big show this year. He can much more easily walk on to a little RJ or Suburban but then we have the issue of being able to pull start it. I might try and rig up a starter generator to a K91 and locate the battery in front of the hood for some counterweight.

Maybe smaller tires and round hood fenders installed on a mid 60's tractor.  I've also been toying with the idea of removing the tunnel section of a mid 60s tractor and redoing the shifter with linkage or a cable. Route the belt lower too. That way he could just step through it. Possibly another 2 seater style custom but I don't think he would like that as much as having a regular looking tractor. IDK

These little guys are a breeze to get on and off of... might be an option.

Yeah but I don't think my father would go for one of those. It's kinda like drinking out of a straw, it's almost impossible to look cool doing it! :ychain:

I was trying to talk some of those CT guys into stuffing a 125cc motorcycle engine and trans into one of those they found at the show. Laying patches of rubber a 100ft long would be cool. LOL

Get a Lawn Ranger with electric start.  Much easier to get on and off.
