B80 - Engine oil came out

Recommended Posts

Phan
I have had for three years but have never drived or started.

After installing the engine pulley, I've noticed that:
Engine oil came out through the (lowest) nut - I am not sure the issue.
There is also white smoke and the engine looks weak.
Any suggestions? Thanks your veru much!

Well that's a first for me! Put a bolt in it.  But you should probably drop that oil pan and get the cast metal pieces out if they're still in there.

Someone must've buried a bolt into the hole too deep and cracked open the inside of the block. A bolt will seal it.

I tried to include a clip but it did not allow me.

WHX??

That's a blind hole for other purposes. Best guess is someone ran too long of a bolt in and blew out the boss on the inside. Run a 1/2" bolt in it gooped up with some silicone and run it like ya stole it. :)

That is a straight thread and will require a good cleaning using spray brake cleaner and a suitable thread sealant on the bolt. Permatex #2 is a great choice for this. It's a bit messy to use, but coat the threads completely. That #2 never hardens (unlike their #1 sealant) and is fine with oil. Bolt length about 3/4" should be fine.

Another observation.

If you move that throttle cable wire to the arm on the disc it will give it a much better throttle range and better control

Is there a belt wire supposed to be bolted in that hole? Supports the belt when de-clutched

Pullstart

My opinion, I’d clean that thread to the best of my ability and get a short set screw.  Loctite Red it and run it in to the bottom.  Make it a permanent thing that can’t be removed.

Bingo..Here is my 312-8 showing that belt guide and bolt.

Yours should have that guide bolted in.

Oil leak is likely from someone jamming in a bolt that was too long and cracking the block.

Hello Cleat: I am unsure whether it had a bolt for the belt support. However, I intalled a bolt with thread sealant and it seems to be preventing any leaks.

I will post a picture of it.

Confusing. :scratchead:  Is @Phan and @Pokk the same person with 2 different screen names?

Or, is there a serial "long bolt driver" :tools-hammerdrill: operating in the Toronto area causing Kohler block leaks all over town?

Wallfish - I apologize - Phan or Pokk is the same. I created Phan (2021), for a reason (login issues?) I created Pokk. I want to keep only one but I don't know how.

I wish someone could help!

I have no idea - Three years ago, I purchased the B80 from a person in Windsor for 800 CAD because he included a snow plow and I needed it. The B80 does not start and the PTO was apart. That is all I kow from him :)))

I am still working on it for other issue.

No big deal. I was just trying to figure out.

One of the mods like @Sparky can probably help you out with the screen name thing. Or just log in with only one.

Which one do you want to keep?  We can merge the 2 accounts into one, just need to know which one you want to keep?
