Kohler Command - year of tractor??

I just got a Toro WH 314-8 that has a replaced seat pan - therefore, no identifying correct tractor serial number, nor can I determine the tractor year?

I tried to cross reference the Command engine on the database here on Red Sq but the engine numbers don't match the numbers offered in the database? This Kohler Command label says --  Family: SKH398U1G2RA --- Model # CH14s -- Spec. 1838 - Serial # 2932815331.

All I can help with is that 1998 is the first year for the Command engines.

Kohler made the engine in 1999 so it would land on a 1999 or 2000 model tractor.

The 314-8 used model number 73449 from 1999 to 2001.

It's curious why the engine serial number doesn't match up with the numbers listed here on red Square for that engine spec??

I don't know what you are looking at. Here are the notes with the engine operator manual

Kohler CH14-1838 and CH14S-1838 used on

1998 314-8 model 73448 Serial 8900001-8999999

1999 314-8 model 73449 Serial 9900001-9999999

2000 314-8 model 73449 Serial 200000001-200999999

2001 314-8 model 73449 Serial 210000001-210999999

The Kohler serial numbers are listed on the front pages of the service manuals. In order to get the best coverage they were copied to our files where you can look at them without downloading anything.
