The ID tag says it is 1981 C-165 Auto 01-16KE02, Iwill be the third owner that I know about. Looks like I have my work cut out for me.he said it was runing, about three years ago! He parked it because the starter went out on it,he did not want to pay (his words $200.00 far a new one). So what do you fellows think about my gift,

Will it be a lot of happy work :scratchead:

YIKES! :scratchead:

The PO should be taken out and horse-whipped for horse abuse!

Nice find, though. Make her shine.

I love the blackhoods. The 16hp single has a ton of torque. I would have all the parts sandblasted and start from there. I have tried the etank, chemical stripper and regular old power sanding and I can tell you that sandblasting is the best !! It will make the restore much easier. Good luck-

Well fellows I started on it today tearing it down. Took seat off fender pan is pretty shot (plastic) I have a plastic one off my C-105, that is in good shape for plastic. He told me he may bring me a snowblower, if the fellow he gave it to still has it. I will be posting pictures of my progress :hide:

Duff

Chas, nice machine and certainly worth the labor of love to rebuild/restore. Might want to consider upgrading to a metal fender pan - I'm told one from a 300 or 400 series machine will fit, and these are fairly common in the used market.

Cheers!

I was thinking about a metal fender Duff, but Iwill wait for awhile.I put one on my C-105 it turned out nice, I think it came off a 520-H. I have some more pictures

I may get heck for putting them in this section. The Mods can move them if they want to here goes.

The PO had a bolt holding the hoop to the PTO,also the bearing race was in backwards, I think PTO will have to be replaced the face is awful rough looking.

I have an update on the old girl, worked on her some more today lots of crap every where, diging and blowing with leaf blower, finally got it down where I can see the small parts on it. The motion control leaver has been broken and rewelded not avery good job. The deck needs belt covers, height adjuster lever, three places to patch up that I can see.
