jsoluna 84 #1 Posted August 2 (edited) Raider 10 MODEL 1-0030 42" SD Deck MODEL 5-1000 Just acquired a Raider 10 and 42" SD Deck. Having an issue with the maximum lift possible at the front of the deck. Have tried adjusting the lift rod, got it as high as possible before it would no longer allow the handle to latch because the rear of the lift hits its max travel first. Have confirmed (I believe) that the rear section of the lift mechanism has the rod inserted in the correct hole and that the lift rod is is in the correct hole as well. Of course, tire sizes and pressures are proper as well. There is no adjustment for the deck leveling side to side or front to back that I can see. Even looked at the manual for the deck and there is not mention of it. The front of the deck is easily 1-2" below the rear when in the highest position. It's not even close to touching the front lift stop on the deck. All I'm coming up with is that the deck shell itself is bent from getting hung up on trailers during a load/unload process (which I have confirmed is an issue, as I tried to load it yesterday and had to strap up the front of the deck to get it to clear the crown of the trailer gate). Is it normal for these decks to sit much lower in the front, generally until the rear gauge wheels touch and start leveling it out? It also sits lower on the discharge side. Never had to pull a deck on one before, so I wasn't sure. However, I reversed the orientation so that the rod went under the curved u-channel and that seemed to make a significant difference. Here is the change with the rod under the u-channel instead of on the top of it. Seems like this is probably where it should have been. Would make more sense for the rod to contact the flat portion of the u channel. The lift mechanism acts totally differently now. I'm going to feel pretty stupid if this was the issue, but the lift mechanism is totally different than anything I'm used to on the Cubs we work on primarily. I should just spend some more time staring at this lift mechanism to understand how it is supposed to work. Edited August 2 by jsoluna
Ed Kennell 42,179 #5 Posted August 2 Do you have item 35? That is the level adjuster.

Now that I have re-oriented the rear lift rod to be under the curved u-channel, that part engages with the front of the deck and I can see now that it should be able to be leveled front to back. Sounds like the rear lift rod was in the wrong orientation, then? Looks like if that is the case, it has been that way for a long time, as the wear marks indicate on the mechanism.
