Mattthetrac 12 #1 Posted July 23 I was cleaning up a bunch of oil around the tractor and on the front right side of the engine I found a wire that has been cut or destroyed somehow. I am wondering if it is important to get my tractor to start. Any info is greatly appreciated.
rmaynard 16,372 #2 Posted July 23 (edited) I have no idea what you are circling. See if you can find where the wire originates. Edited July 24 by rmaynard
953 nut 60,348 #3 Posted July 23 I do not own the model you are working on so a bit more information could help figure this out. I your previous post you said you were charging the battery to find out what was and wasn't working as it should. So tell us, what is working and what isn't working, that will help us to figure out what the mystery wire goes to. Your engine is a Lauson V70 which was bought out by Tecumseh. I was unable to find a wiring diagram for your model but the 1969 Workhorse model has a 7 HP Tecumseh engine which has a horizontal crankshaft (yours is a vertical crankshaft) but the wiring may be similar enough to help figure this out. According to the drawing there are only three small wires going to your engine, what color is the cut wire?

Mattthetrac 12 #5 Posted July 24 I have identified the cable as the ignition ground wire and will purchase new wire to reconnect the two ends. 1

Thank you for all the help and I will probably keep asking questions😂 2 1
Retired Wrencher 5,837 #7 Posted July 24 Matthetrac: This is how you learn to work on them. It’s always handy to have extra wire and normal things like that so problems come up you’re ready. Enjoy the project.
